QVANTUM QE – heat pump with heating, cooling and ventilation functions for buildings with energy recovery.

Complete machine room in one device

The QE ventilation heat pump is a phenomenal solution from the Swedish manufacturer QVANTUM, offering the possibility of ventilating rooms with heat recovery (recuperation), heating domestic hot water and heating and cooling the building using surface systems or fan coils. All this is enclosed in one device, in the form of a compact unit taking up less than 0,4 m² of floor space, which is particularly important in buildings with a small living area. In the case of the QE ventilation pump, there is no need to install an external unit, so you do not have to worry about noise, condensate drainage or distance from the neighbor's plot. Installation becomes easier and faster, and the investor gains additional space outside the building. It is worth mentioning that the QE heat pump does not require an additional, separate domestic hot water tank, and the process of preparing domestic hot water is hygienic - the water is heated flowing through a plate exchanger built into the device (this reduces the possibility of Legionella bacteria). The QE heat pump is available in two power variants: 4kW and 6kW, and is dedicated to energy-efficient construction, in particular modular, frame and prefabricated construction.

Tasks and functions

The basic task of the QE heat pump is to ensure proper ventilation of rooms in the building and energy recovery to meet the heating needs of the building and provide the comfort of hot utility water. The source of energy is ventilation air exhausted from the building (used air) containing a large amount of energy accumulated in the building, which in the case of classic gravity ventilation is a loss that must be supplemented with a standard heat source. In a word, the QE pump recovers and reuses the energy of used air using a cooling module with a smoothly regulated inverter compressor.

Ventilation solution tailored to individual preferences

The QE heat pump can operate in two building ventilation variants. The first basic variant is the collection of used air from the so-called dirty rooms (kitchen, bathroom, toilet, vestibule). This creates a small negative pressure in the building, which causes the suction of fresh air through wall or window vents installed in other rooms. Thanks to this solution, we obtain full ventilation of all rooms, as in the case of gravity ventilation, with the difference that along the way we recover energy from the air for reuse. (Fig. 1)

The second option assumes the implementation of full mechanical exhaust and supply ventilation in the building. An additional QS module is necessary for this solution, which is equipped with an additional supply fan. Before it reaches the rooms, the fresh air is preheated by a hydraulic heater built into the module, which uses energy from the central heating system previously recovered from the exhaust air for heating. (Fig. 2)

Thermal battery – a step into the future of energy storage (flexready)

The energy recovered from the ventilation air is accumulated in the 175-liter accumulation tank of the device, which can be treated as a thermal battery and used for heating DHW and central heating. The battery itself also acts as an energy storage in the flexible energy market. This function involves the cooperation of the heat pump automation with dynamic tariffs in the power grid. The device, using the API protocol, responds to changes in electricity prices and accumulates thermal energy (the battery can be heated up to 90 degrees Celsius) in periods of low energy prices or when there is a surplus, so that it can use the price of electricity is much higher. This solution significantly improves the economics of the device and significantly reduces operating costs.

Easy to use from anywhere in the world

Finally, it is worth mentioning that the device automation is equipped with a WiFi and Bluetooth module as standard, thanks to which it has control and service care via the Internet. The device itself can be operated from a mobile application or a color touch screen on the heat pump housing. This form of control allows access to basic and advanced functions of the device from almost anywhere on Earth.

However, ideal solutions do exist….

To sum up, the QE series heat pumps are an ideal solution for houses and apartments, where every square centimetre is worth its weight in gold, and the user expects the highest comfort of ventilation, heating, cooling and hot water at low operating costs.
